Happy Independence Day!  What a good time we all had at the Woodbine Opry.  Of course it was hot outside, it’s July the 4th, but we had a cool auditorium and a good crowd.

We had two female singers with us tonight, Jeannie Hayslip from High Falls, Ga. was with us again.  Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us and come back real soon.  Also, April Baker from St. Simons Island, Ga. came back for another visit.  April hasn’t been with us for a while, but said she would see us again next Saturday.  We’ll just wait and see about that.  As always April, you added to the program and it was nice having you back.

Mike and Margie Prefontaine were celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary.  Mike was presented a certificate  of appreciation by the opry crew  acknowledging his participation in the Opry.  Mike is such a good sport and certainly adds some flavor to the opry.

Our first-time visitors came from New Smyrna Beach, Fl., and  Jesup, Woodbine, Statesboro, and Brunswick, Ga.  Our half-n-half money was $162.00.

Sharon Bowan was with us again with her book selling, and appreciates all of you that purchased her book.  She will be back again in the near future.

Next Saturday is Independence Day and we will be having our usual Saturday night program.  Come on out and enjoy the evening with us.

What a great time we had at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  As usual, it was good to see all of our friends again as well as the newcomers.  The first-time visitors came from Jacksonville, Fl., and Eulonia and Brunswick, Ga.  It’s always great to see the first-timers come in and have a good time with us.

We had lots of goodies we gave away and our half-n-half money was $178.00

Thanks to those that helped put all the pictures back on the walls, and I encourage you if you haven’t already, to look at these old photos.  Lots of great memories there to view.

Thanks to Marshall Rowland for filling in for us last night on such short notice.  It’s great having people like Marshall to help out performing at the Opry.

I hope to see you all back real soon at the Woodbine Opry.

It’s been brought to my attention that Mr. Al Dean Braddock passed away this past week.  Al Dean enjoyed sitting in with the fellas on Saturday nights where he would play the mouth harp and occasionally sing.  He has been living the last year or more with his daughter.  Our sympathy and prayers go out to his family.

A rainy night in Georgia did not interfere with the Woodbine Opry.  Our curtains were installed this week and they certainly add to the overall look and sound of the opry.  We had several cakes to give away and our half-n-half money was $169.00.  Our first-time visitors came from Harriett’s Bluff, Ga., and DeBary and Bradenton, Fl.

It’s always good seeing all of the “regulars” as well as the new folks.  Feel free to contact me at bstaats@bellsouth.net with any comments as it’s always nice hearing from you folks.

I hope to see you all again real soon at the Woodbine Opry.

We had a full house at tonight’s opry and everyone had a good time.  Our first-time visitors came from Woodbine and Brunswick, Ga., Alabama, Virginia, and San Jose, Ca.  We again had a tablefull of cakes to give away and our half-n-half money was $231.00, the highest amount to be given out this year.  A pretty good night!

I really appreciate all the fellas in the band that come week after week to perform.  It’s also good to see all you folks get up and dance and have a good time.  That’s what it’s all about.

Our stage curtains should be installed next week and that will certainly enhance the appearance of our auditorium.  Come back and check them out.

I hope to see you real soon at the Woodbine Opry!

We had another fun-filled evening at the Woodbine Opry!  Although the weather throughout this region has been soggy all week long, the rain held off and it did not affect our attendance.  Our first-time visitors came from Nahunta and Fayettville, Ga., Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Fernandina Beach, Tampa, and Mount Dora, Fl., Springfield, Mo., and Pine Ridge, Ar.

We were happy to have Marshall Rowland sit in on the steel guitar with us; it’s always a joy to have Marshall participate in the opry.  He recognized those in the audience that were a part of the 1947 graduating  class of Nahunta.  They had a gathering in Jesup earilier in the day and several came to hear Marshall.  We enjoyed having them all with us.

We had a local author, Sharon Bowen, with us and she sold several of her books.  Her book is now in its second printing so perhaps she will be back again with us.  Good luck with your book, Sharon.

We had lots of goodies to give out and our half-n-half money was $196.00.

Another fun time was had at the Woodbine Opry!  We had a good crowd, again, and our first-time visitors came from Gainsville, Fl., St. Marys, Brunswick, Nashville,  and Darien, Ga., Beaufort, S.C., and one nice lady from Italy.  It was good to see the dancing ladies dressed up in red again and getting the crowd in the spirit of things.

We have received word that our stage curtains should be installed the week of June the 8th.  They should really dress up the stage and will also help inhance the sound.  I believe the sound system is now under control;  we’ve been experiencing some problems with the stage monitors but we have that resolved now.

We again had many cakes to give away, and our half-n-half money was $226.00.  The link to tonight’s photos:    http://community.webshots.com/album/562726652AkIbIE?start=1692

Next Friday and Saturday nights a local author, Sharon Peeples Bowen, will be at the school with her   ”Mindful of These Our Many Blessings”,  a social history of the people of Camden County.  A portion of the sales from these evenings will be donated to the Old Woodbine School.  Please take the time to view this writing and visit with Sharon.

We’re experimenting with having pizza available from Pizza and A Movie at the school.  Mighty fine pizza!  We will see how this works out and hopefully be able to continue with it.

It’s always good to see you all at the opry, and I hope to see you back with us real soon.  Have a good week.

Happy Mother’s Day!

What a good time was had at the Woodbine Opry!  We had another really good crowd and I believe everyone enjoyed the evening.  It  is so good being back in the auditorium and much more comfortable than before.  The sound system had pretty much had all of the bugs worked out of it, there’s still a little left for the monitors for the band to hear good, but that will get fixed.

Our first-time visitors came from Folkston, Shell Point, and White Oak, Ga., Fort White and Jacksonville, Fl.,  St. Clairsville, Oh., and Applegate, Mi.  The half-n-half money that we gave away was for $196.00.   That made someone happy, I’m sure.  We certainly appreciate all of those that participate in the cake and money drawings as that’s how we make money to pay the bills.  What’s that old line, “there ain’t nothin’ free”, and that applies to us at the opry.  It costs to put on a program and we feel good that ya’ll participate and help us pay the bills.  That means we can do it again next Saturday night.

It was sure good seeing Mike “Flash” Prefontaine with us again.  Mike, I know that everyone was real happy seeing you, including myself.

LOST– A cell phone was believed to have been lost on Friday night there at the opry.  If anyone found this please contact us and we will notify the owner.

The band and everyone wants to thank Debbie Zitelli for stepping up and drumming some for us tonight.  I was informed that she dressed up the appearance of the band somewhat.  Yea, she did!  And a good drummer too.  Thanks, Debbie, you’re welcome back anytime with us.
