Saturday Night, 5-26-12

We had another over-flow crowd tonight at The Woodbine Opry.  Our first-time visitors were from Brunswick, Folkston, Wrightsville, Kingsland, and Waycross, Georgia.  There was a nice variety on the cake table to give away, and thanks to all who donated to this.  The half-n-half was $216.00.

Those providing tonight’s entertainment were J.C. Hunnicutt, Brian Rowland, Thumper Bennett, T.K. Hilton, Robert McCullers, Aubrey Jones, Hershel Hickox, Gary Sumpter, and yours truly.  Thanks to all of these men for the contribution that they made in tonight’s Opry.

Mid-Week Tid Bits, 5-24-12

We have a long weekend coming up with the observance of Memorial Day on Monday, and it should be another fun night at The Woodbine Opry this Saturday.  I cannot express enough my thanks to the fellas in the band who, on a regular basis, provide the entertainment.  So thanks again to Robert McCullers, Aubrey Jones, J.C. Hunnicutt, Hershel Hickox, and Brian Rowland  for your dedication.  We have some fine musicians that visit with us and I’m thankful also for all of them.  Thumper Bennett is one of these men, and he will be with us this Saturday on the drums.  

This week’s trivia question:  One of the first three to be inducted in to the Country Music Hall of Fame, this artist is often dubbed the “Father Of Country Music”.  He was also inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame for his early influence with that music form.  He died in 1933.  Who is he?

Saturday Night, 5-19-12

Another fun time was had tonight here in Woodbine, Georgia at The Woodbine Opry.  Our first-time visitors were from Fernandina Beach, Fl., Waycross, Atkinson, and St. Marys, Ga., and Niagara Falls, N.Y.  I hope ya’ll had a good time with us and that you can come back again.

We had a nice table of goodies to give away; thanks to all who donated to this cause.  Our half-n-half was $238.00.

The band members present this evening were Robert McCullers, J.C. Hunnicutt, Brian Rowland, Hershel Hickox, and yours truly.  Our special guests this evening were Buddy Knox on drums, Donnie Foster, also on drums, and Sean McCarthy with vocals.  Thanks to all of these men for providing tonight’s entertainment.

Here we are getting ready for another Saturday night at The Woodbine Opry.  We always look forward to our Saturday nights with you and I just hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy playing the old music for you.  Our special guest this week is Sean McCarthy and I’m sure you will enjoy his singing.  Sean performs on a regular basis in Fernandina Beach and this will be his first appearance here at The Woodbine Opry.

Happy Mother’s Day!

We had another fun evening at The Woodbine Opry tonight. Our first-time visitors were from Brantley, Folkston, and St. Marys, Ga., Jacksonville, Fl., and Seattle, Wa. I hope that each of you had a good time with us and can come back again for more fun. Thanks to those who donated to the cake table and the half-n-half was $242.00.

The dance floor remained active all through the evening and everyone was appearing to have a good time. That’s what The Woodbine Opry is all about.

Everyone is getting ready for another Saturday night at The Woodbine Opry.  In addition to the band members, we will have Joe Muench, T.K. Hilton, and Phil Tipton with us this week.

Saturday Night, 5-5-12

The moon was full tonight and so was the dance floor at The Woodbine Opry.  It is really a pleasure for us to see you folks having such a good time at our program. 

The first-time visitors tonight were from Brunswick and Blackshear, Ga.  The half-n-half was $191.00, and we again had a table full of goodies to give away.  Thanks to all who donated to the cake table and to all who purchased tickets.  As I have said many times, that’s how we pay the bills here at the Old School.

We at The Woodbine Opry are proud of the program that we bring to you every Saturday night.  I cannot thank enough those musicians who have made the commitment of providing music on a weekly basis.  We have some excellent guest musicians that join us when they are available, and I am thankful for them as well, but I just can’t say enough about those who are with us every Saturday night and provide such fine entertainment.

It’s getting close again to another Saturday night at The Woodbine Opry, and we’re all getting ready for it.  Brian Rowland will be back with us again, as well as Joe Muench and Debbie Spivey.  Debbie has been busy these past few weeks and she is anxious about getting back with us, and we’re looking forward to having her back.
