A fine time was had at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  Our first-time visitors came from St. Marys, Marietta, Waverly, Atlanta, Ga., and Orange Park and Jacksonville, Fl.  We welcomed several from the South Camden High classes of 1947-50 that were having a school  reunion.  I hope you all had a good time visiting with us there at Woodbine High.  I understand it was once quite a rivalry, but that was then.

We again had a tableful of goodies to give away.  Our half-n-half money was $147.00.

With Veterans Day approaching next week, we recognized the many veterans in attendance.  We thank these men for their service to our country.

I hope to see you all again at the Woodbine Opry!

Another good evening at the Woodbine Opry!  Being halloween, we had many children from the community stop by tricking and treating and giving everyone a chance to see them all dressed up.

We had first-time visitors from Altanta and Valdosta, Ga., Cookville, Tn., and Clearwater, Fl.  It’s always great welcoming our first-time visitors.  We also had a couple from Livingston, Tx. that had visited us before, but made a second-time visit.

Our half-n-half money was $166.00.

Did we have a good time or what at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  There was a good crowd on hand for tonight’s opry and we had fun.  Our first-time visitors came from Kingsland, Ga., Jacksonville and Orlando, Fl.  Our half-n-half money was $170.00.

We recognized several folks having birthdays this week.  Everyone needs a little recognition now and then.  We enjoy acknowledging those with birthdays, and singing “Happy Birthday” to them.

We all missed Mike Prefontaine as he added to each night’s performance.  I posted earlier in the week of his passing.  Our prayers and thoughts are still with Margie and the family.

Once again, thanks to all who work and help make your visit to the Opry enjoyable.

I hope to see you all real soon at the Woodbine Opry.  Have a good week.

Hoydt and the gang were a blue-grassin’ their hearts out tonight.  Those guys have fun!  The folks in the audience were enjoying themselves, also.  The half-n-half money was $90.00, not bad for a Friday.

I am saddened to report that Mike (Flash) Prefontaine passed away Monday evening.  Mike was well known for his antics and interaction there at the Opry and provided much off-stage entertainment.  A memorial service will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, Oct. 24 at Ella Park Church on Horsestomp Road.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Margie and the family.

I will miss him.

Another good time was had at the Woodbine Opry tonight.  A good crowd was on hand and our first-time visitors came from St. Simons Island and Brunswick, Ga., Youngstown, Oh., Marshfield, Wi., Jacksonville, Fl., and Cassadaga, NY.

Thanks to all for the cakes and goodies that we gave away.  Although the entertainment is free, the electricity isn’t, and that’s how we pay the bills; selling tickets for cakes.  We appreciate all of those who purchase these tickets and to help keep the opry going.  Our half-n-half money was $204.00.

Man -o- man, did we have a packed house tonight!  We’re so happy to see such a good crowd show up to listen to the music and enjoy the evening at the Old School.  That’s what we’re here for, a night out amongst friends in a friendly atmosphere.

We had several first-time visitors, coming from Richmond Hill, St. Marys, Brunswick, Atlanta, Darien, Kingsland, and Georgetown, Ga., Jacksonville, Fl., and Denver, Co.  Our half-n-half money was $232.00 and we had lots of goodies that we gave away.

Thanks to Alan Gardner who played some lead guitar for us and for Rufus Clark who shared his talents with us singing and playing.  Of course, as usual, thanks to the Opry Band members who always donate their time and talents to ensure that the music goes on.  We’d be lost without them.

I appreciate the committee members and all the volunteers who offer their time and energies to assist in the support of the Woodbine Opry.  Although the admission is free, nothing happens without much work and effort.  So again, thanks to everyone for a good evening.

The Woodbine Opry can be heard on WCGA 1100Am on Saturdays, 8-10:00Am.
