I am saddened to report that Mike (Flash) Prefontaine passed away Monday evening. Mike was well known for his antics and interaction there at the Opry and provided much off-stage entertainment. A memorial service will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, Oct. 24 at Ella Park Church on Horsestomp Road. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Margie and the family.
I will miss him.

Circumstances have kept us from the Opry the past few weeks & I have just read of Mike’s death. I am so saddened–he was such a big part of it for me and all that attend. Though fairly new to the Opry, I have on occasions sat next to Mike and Marge and learned quite a bit about those involved in it and the Prefontaine family. Please know that I am thinking of the them and although this comes late, I mourn his passing with you knowing that you have memories that will live on for a long, long time.
I will never think of the opry without remembering Mike and his crazy antics and the happiness he brought to all of us.
