Another good night at the Woodbine Opry!  Our first-time visitors came from Jacksonville and Callahan, Fl., Brunswick and Baxley, Ga., Tucson, Az., and St. Louis, Mo.  I certainly hope that all of you enjoyed your evening with us at the Woodbine Opry and that you were made to feel at home, amongst friends.  Of course, it was good seeing all the returnees and our “regulars”.

We had a good time giving away the goodies and our half-n-half was $244.00.

Thanks to Jerry Floyd out of Jacksonville for playing guitar with us last night, and to Joe Munch on drums, and to John Lemaster for playing bass and steal guitar.  T.K. Hilton was also with us and sang, thanks to him.  Thanks to all the Band who so generously share their time and talents with us, making the Opry possible.

Thanks to Robert Wilson for sitting in on bass guitar with us, and too, to all the fellas in the band that provide the evening’s entertainment.  Also, thanks to those that provide the goodies and to those that assist in various tasks to ensure that the Opry runs smoothly.

What a good crowd we had tonight at the Woodbine Opry!  Our first-time visitors came from Jacksonville, Yulee, Fernandina Beach,  Zephyr Hillls, and Opopka, Fl., Snellville and Lyons, Ga., Newport, RI, and Brooklyn, NY.  I certainly hope that all of you enjoyed your evening and felt right at home with all the good folks here at the Opry.

We again had lots of goodies and cakes to give away and our half-n-half money was $256.00.  That made the evening even more enjoyable for a nice couple.

A special “thank you” goes out to Marshall Rowland from St. Augustine, Fl. for playing steel guitar for us.  We in the band always enjoy when Marshall is with us, and I know the folks in the audience also enjoy his visits.

Thanks again to all the committee members and volunteers that put forth the effort to keep the Opry running smoothly.  Again, thanks to the fellas in the band for donating their time and talents, and thank all of you who enjoy the dancing made available here at the Opry.  Our purpose is to bring people together in a good atmosphere to have fun with friends and enjoy the old music.  I certainly hope that you all enjoyed your evening with us.

See you next time at the Woodbine Opry!

We had another jam-packed crowd at the Woodbine Opry!  I understand some could not find a seat and I’m sorry about that.  The doors are open at 5:30PM and folks start arriving soon after.  If you want to pick where you sit, you need to get there early.

Again we had a table full of cakes and goodies to give away and our half-n-half was $285.00.

The band had a good time, as always, and I sure appreciate these guys donating their time and talents.  Another thing we like seeing is all of you that get up and dance.  I can see that those who dance are really enjoying the opportunity to do this.  That’s what the opry is all about, folks having a place to go to hear old country music and share their talents on the dance floor.  Keep it up, it’s good for the soul!

Our first-time visitors came from Jacksonville, Fl., Patterson and Kingsland, Ga., we had the Red Hat Ladies from Brunswick, Ga., and some visitors from Lexington, S.C.

Beginning Oct. 6, which is a Tuesday, square dancing will take place in the cafeteria.  Don Heins is the caller for this event and those interested in participating may contact Tom Dowling at 912-729-4891 for more information.

The graduating class of 1970 held a get-together tonight at the Old School.  I’m sure they had a great time and did a lot of catching up and remember whens.  There’s nothing quite like getting back with those that you grew up with.

Remember, you can catch the the Woodbine Opry from 8:00-10:00 Saturday morning on WCGA, AM1100.

A special “thank you” to those on the committee and our volunteer workers who assist in so many ways to ensure that all of the functions at the Old School are carried through.  Several came in during the week and had a clean-up in the class reunion room, and it looked good.  Thank you!

It’s always great seeing all of you on Saturday nights.  We, the performers and the Old School Committee, certainly appreciate your participation and support for the Old Woodbine School.  Hope to see you next time at the Woodbine Opry.

Another full house at the Woodbine Opry!  We had a great evening and I hope ya’ll had as much fun as what the fellas in the band had.  Lots of first-time visitors, coming from Jacksonville, Callahan, Green Cove Springs, Oceanway, and Geneva, Fl., Brunswick,  McRae,  and Nahunta, Ga., and Higgins, Pa.  The table of goodies was slap-full, and we had a time giving them all away.  I appreciate all that donate these goodies and for you buying the tickets.  As I state during the program, this is how we make the money to keep paying the bills.  Tonight’s half-n-half money was $273.00, not a record, but not a bad haul at all!

A special thank you goes out to Joe Munch who came up from Jacksonville and sat in on the drums with us.  What a great drummer he is.   Thanks, Joe.

Once again, I appreciate all that support that we receive from you at the Old Woodbine School, and I certainly hope that you had an enjoyable experience visiting with us.  We welcome ya’ll back real soon.

We had a packed house tonight at the Woodbine Opry!  There may have been an empty seat or two, but they were few and far between.  It’s so good to see so many folks having a good time and enjoying themselves and the music.  It’s also great to see the folks getting up and dancing; at one point there were 13 couples dancing.  I have had so many of you tell me how much you enjoy being able to dance, and I think it’s wonderful that it has caught on with so many.  Hey, that’s what the Woodbine Opry is all about; folks getting out to a good place and having a good time.  I’m proud to be a part of it.

We had many first-time visitors with us tonight.  Visitors came from McClenny, Ponte Vedra, St. Augustine, Lake Wells, Fernandina Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Yulee, Fl., Brunswick, Ga., Clearfield, Utah, and Connecticut.  I certainly hope that ya’ll had a good evening with us and can come back again.

Our half-n-half money was $248.00, which wasn’t bad at all!

What a great evening we had at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  Another full-house in the audience and I know everyone enjoyed themselves.  Our first-time visitors were from Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Fernandina Beach, Fl., several from Waverly, Ga, Sylvester, Hortense,  St. Simons Island, and Brunswick, Ga.  Our half-n-half giveaway money was $182.00.

We had several guest performers with us tonight.  From Cordele, Ga. we had Harold Perry playing bass guitar and singing.  Harold was with us a few years back, and it was nice seeing Harold again.  From Jacksonville, Joe Munch sat in on the drums with us and, as usual, did an excellent job.  John Lemaster was with us again playing pedal steel guitar, bass, and doing some vocals.  T.K. Hilton came on stage and did some great singing, and Rick Fryfield played some bass and sang a few songs as well.  Paul Donohue was also with us again tonight.  I know you all love hearing Paul’s voice.  It’s always good having these fellas back with us sharing their talents.  I know that the Opry Band members enjoyed these guys sitting in with them.

Speaking of the Opry Band, I know I don’t give them enough credit for the contribution that each of them make.  These members are Carroll Hayes, piano player from Jacksonville, Roy and Aubrey Jones, guitar and vocals from Jacksonville, Robert McCullers, pedal steel guitar player, St. Marys, Ga., J.C. Hunneycutt, rhythm guitar and vocals from Jacksonville, Fl., Hershel Hickox, rhythm and vocals, Brunswick, Ga., and Tim Murray, drums and sound equipment operator from Kingsland, Ga., and myself, Bob Staats, bass guitar and vocals, living in Brunswick, Ga.  Also, Hoydt Drury, the Father of the Woodbine Opry.  We all enjoy so much bringing the music to you every Saturday night, and help keeping old country music alive.  Thank you all so much for allowing us to do this.

Another good time was had at the Woodbine Opry tonight!  We had another packed auditorium and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.   As promised, Marshall Rowland was with us playing steel.  Thanks so much Marshall for filling in and playing with us.  Miss Vickie Lee also was with us sharing her talents and I know all enjoyed her singing.

Roy Jones of course was there playing guitar and he was celebrating his 79th birthday.  I hope you have many, many more Roy.  Alice Murray, one of the dancing ladies, also was celebrating a birthday.  Happy birthday to you too, Alice.

Our first-time visitors came from Kingsland, Waycross, Baxley, and Brunswick, Ga., Jacksonville and Yulee, Fl., Raleigh, NC, Myrtle Beach, SC, New Orleans, La., Idabel, Ok., and Smithville, Mo., and Vienna, Austria.  It’s always so nice seeing all the new faces here at Woodbine and I hope you all have the opportunity to come and visit us again.

I certainaly appreciate all who donate the cakes and goodies to give away.  Again, we had several of these items.  Our half-n-half money was $243.00.

Unfortunately, there was a glitch to the photos and I do not have any that can be shared with you for this week.  Sorry about that.  And you were such a good-looking bunch!  Come back next week and we’ll take two of you to make up for tonight.

I hope that we see you back real soon at the Woodbine Opry!

A rainy night in Georgia but the show went on!  In spite of the weather we had good turnout at tonight’s Opry.  The crowd was down a bit but we still managed to give away $157.00 in our half-n-half money.  Our first-time visitors came from Yulee, Jacksonville, and Fernandina Beach, Fl., and Brunswick, Ga., and Stafford, Va.  It’s always nice seeing new faces in the audience and, of course, seeing all the familiar faces as well.
